Father Rich, I love your sense of humor! This gave me a good chuckle: ". . . it is nice to open a pickle jar without needing to form a prayer chain." Now off to read the rest of today's essay.
This is so important. I appreciate you keeping things realistic and grounded. I’m going to clean the fridge and get the condiment relics into the trash lol
I have accumulated alot of paperwork and other items in our supposed family room. But after I retired (2.5yrs ago), I had every intention of cleaning out that mess, throwing away papers, and donating gently used items. These items have sat there for years, but right before the 4th, my son helped me break down boxes to be recycled. I'm currently going through some back issues, but as soon as I'm feeling better, and with your encouragement and my determination, I will clean out that basement room. I've made that promise to myself to get rid of and purge the excess so I can breath a sigh of relief and move onto the next project ...
Thank you again, Father. Good luck with your exercise program. Wishing you good health, happiness, a clear mind, and strong body too.
God bless you. 🙏
BTW, I was never able to download your free book, so can you please tell me when your new podcast will begin? I would like to view it. Again, take care and stay safe 🙏 ❤️
There is a very profound metaphor in what you described. A space that was meant to be saved and used for family has slowly been consumed by accumulated clutter. In some ways, that is a real manifestation of what can happen when we neglect the ordinary things right in front of us.
I’m glad you’re going to get it cleaned up. Let’s hold each other accountable. I’ll check in with you to see whether you took a first step, and you check back in with me to see whether I’ve taken care of mine.
This speaks directly to the place where shame pretends to be wisdom. We tell ourselves we are being realistic, but often we are just afraid to begin again as beginners.
I appreciate the care you take not to turn health into holiness or wellness into salvation. That distinction matters. The body is not an idol, but it is also not disposable. Grace meets us in the actual life we have, not the imagined life where we finally feel ready.
Sometimes repentance looks less like a dramatic vow and more like making the appointment, taking the walk, asking for help, or doing the next faithful thing.
Just wanted to let everyone know, I made it to the gym! How did you guys do? Make some progress on something?
That's great. Always be sure you're hydrated

Thank you for the inspiration Fr Rich!
I had made a longer comment & it disappeared, didn't post. I've been putting off making a Chiropractor appointment. Doing it now.
Just do it! I have to make a doctors appointment too, I'll do it the same as you!
Thank you, Father, for this reminder.

Again Father your reflections have made me a better person! Thank you for the encouraging words!!
