Welcome! Why I Started Message from the Margins
"Let the Church always be a place where Truth and Compassion meet in the hearts of humankind"
I want to take a moment today to share where I’ve been, and where we’re going.
I started Message from the Margins because I believe, with my whole heart, that Jesus still speaks. But these days, too many of us can’t hear Him over the noise. Political noise. Cultural noise. Misguided Religious noise.
This isn’t a place for the polished or performative. You won’t find videos of high liturgies or explanations about vestments. You will never hear me condescend to the hurting and vulnerable. It’s a safe place for people who have become disillusioned by what they see of the church every time they turn on the news or open their phones, those who still carry scraps of faith in their pockets and aren’t sure what to do with them. It’s for people who love justice, who weep at what is happening in the world, who want to believe that compassion isn’t naïve. It’s for people who believe the true gospel still has power.
I’m an Old Catholic priest, yes. But more than that, I’m a fellow traveler. I’ve seen too much to preach cheap answers. I’ve buried too many beautiful people to pretend pain isn’t real. And I’ve watched too many Christians trade the Sermon on the Mount for a seat at the table of power. And I have ministered at the Margins for too long to believe that theology is black and white.
This space is for those at the margins. For the seekers. For the misfits. For the faithful and the formerly faithful.
If you’re still asking the question:
What if the gospel really is good news for the poor, the hungry, the weary, and the left out?
then I hope you’ll stay.
